The Old V’s IX v University of Brighton IX was a great success with everyone enjoying the match. The rain for once had relented and both teams played some good footbll. Infact the ball hardly went over head height such was the emphasis on passing. Old V’s remarkably scored after 10 seconds with a Matt Waterman far post header from a pin point cross from Adrian(o). The next goal didn’t come until the 60th minute when the Uni equalised but the V’s were back ahead again through Matt Waterman and then Pablo sealed a 3-1 win with 10 minutes to go. The games was evenly balanced with chances at both ends and played in a good spirit. Thanks to Ryan Hughes for organising the students... Never an easy task and to jason for refereeing the match. Four more students have signed for Old V’s and they are most welcome at the club. We may need a fourth team soon for the very old V’s.
A Christmas friendly between students and Old V’s will take place on 6th December at 5pm at Falmer on the astro. Dave Bridges, the student liason officer, and former manager of the V's, will be managing the Old V's select eleven. Ryan Hughes is going to organise a student team. It will be a good oppourtunity to meet all the students and welcome them into our club. And of course show them how to play football! So no pressure on Bridges now.
Contact Rob Burnham if you can come. Meet at Wagon and Horses for early drinks, followed by a meal at pinnochios. End the evening at Hanbury ballrooms, we love 90's night. Dave Bridges on the dancefloor no doubt.
Training is on every wednesday from 9pm until 10pm, at Falmer on the astro.
